New Beginnings

During the past difficult year, the rugby club committees have still been meeting virtually each month to get ready for when we are all able to participate in rugby again.

Also during this time, the committee identified the need to bring the senior and junior sections closer together, and have the entire club under one banner. The reason behind this is to bring both clubs closer together, as even though the club was technically one by having two names it separated the two areas. It was felt that if we had one name then this would further would bond the Ceiriog valley with Llangollen even more.

There were many suggestions for a new club name and eventually the club committees agreed on a change from Llangollen/Glyn Ceiriog to Clwb Rygbi Bro Gwernant.

The name has come from the hill that leads up from Llangollen over to Glyn Ceiriog and is the geographical feature between the two areas of the club, so we felt this was a great symbol to use for the new name.

There will be no change in the use of both pitches and facilities, these will still be used as before with the juniors primarily based at Glyn Ceiriog and the seniors at Llangollen (including the Valkyries) although both venues will be use by all teams during a season.

Club colours and a new badge have been designed and chosen by the committee, players and parents. These will be displayed on social media over the coming weeks.

Hopefully the news on the pandemic is positive and getting back on the pitch to train and play won't be too far away now. The coaches from all sections have worked tirelessly, during the last 12 months, with online fitness sessions and keeping in touch with each other to aid us getting up and running as and when we get the green light.

It has been a hugely difficult period for all and I want to thank all of the coaches and committee members for their hard work during the period.

We look forward to seeing you all in the near future.
